When Phish took a hiatus at the end of 2000, Trey soon found himself writing new songs. Eager to hit the road to debut some of the material, a brief tour was spontaneously planned for February and Trey took the ambitious step of adding three horns to the band – Dave Grippo (saxophone, of Giant Country Horn fame), Jen Hartswick (trumpet) and Andy Moroz (trombone) – all local Vermonters. With the new tour came a number of new originals, including “Push on ’Til the Day”, “At the Gazebo”, “Waves “(now known as “Ray Dawn Balloon”), “Happiness in my Pants” (to which Trey later added words to become “Birthday Boys” on Oysterhead’s The Grand Pecking Order), and “Burlap Sack and Pumps.”
